Welcome to Sketching in the City

Sasha Sinclair
Sketching Tour Director

Sketching in the City tours are led by award-winning artist and independent art historian, Sasha Sinclair. She is also a licensed tour guide in the District of Columbia (DC), a Washington, DC Artist Fellow and a docent at the National Gallery of Art.

Sasha’s mission is to help visitors and locals discover the history, beauty, quirk, and charm of Washington, DC through the art making process. She believes that anyone armed with a few simple techniques can enjoy sketching on location in pencil, pen and ink and watercolor.

This tour is different from the usual group tour experience. Each tour group is small – max 6 people per tour. This allows Sasha to give you ample attention so you can really SEE and experience the city in a way that stays with you. And in the end you will have sketches and stories to share with family, friends – and, yes, even on social media.

NO experience is necessary to take a sketching tour and all materials are provided. All you need to bring is an openness to creatively experience the city’s architecture, art, parks and neighborhoods in a new way.

Happy Sketching!
